Rotary Park – Wentzville, MO
We are preparing food for a communal dinner this evening with some of the vendors and a couple other performers who are staying on site. We are glad of the prospect of company because it has been a bit of a stressful day. We shopped for things we weren’t sure we could find (found them), ate food we weren’t sure we would like (loved it) and performed the responsible actions of paying bills and generating PR material to send out to interested parties. Then we hauled water. But not before Alex discovered the towing truck is acting up in a very disturbing manner.
Welcome to life on the road ….
We’ve decided not to deal with it until Monday after shows are done. We have the means to make it right, but that doesn’t make it any less of an inconvenience.
I say “inconvenience” rather than “problem” for a very good reason. We have food. We have shelter. We have *gasp* A/C!! We have a meal with others in the immediate future. We have each other. We have everything we need, with very few exceptions. “Problem” would indicate something necessary was missing and we lacked the resources to rectify the situation. “Inconvenience” means it is a bother right now, but not the end of the world. We have the things at the bottom of the pyramid. We’ll work our way up after we fulfill our commitments this weekend.
Alex is preparing dessert in the Dutch oven. I’m doing potatoes and will be ready to move to chicken in green curry sauce when the Dutch oven is in the working oven (bounce bounce bounce) to cook up. Alex is on the way to make sure Axel the Sot is aware of the impending pot luck, and if not, that we have every intention of brining him leftovers with a libation of his choosing.
We try to take care of our own. This is so very simple and basic an act of goodness when you’re on the road. I wish it was this way in what we’ve termed the Real World. Our stress levels could sure use it.
Checking those potatoes now ….
