18th Century Trade Faire - Vonore, TN
We spent the better part of last week in the Terraport at Airstream in Jackson Center, OH, cleaning up, regrouping and taking some needed rest. After three days, a joyous reunion with the wonderful folks at Airstream Life and an exchange of skills amongst ourselves we headed for Vonore, TN and our next show. It’s the evening after the last day of the event and everything is really quiet.
The fair here at Loudon was completely rewarding and awesome. I learned a lot and felt like I fit right into the time period and the nature of the event. I think I may have something here with the tasseography. The pitch was gorgeous and I had a line nearly all day both days. Alex had excellent shows also and this was a sentiment shared among all the performers from what we could ascertain.
It was wonderful to see the Budabi Brothers again, two young and very energetic and gifted jugglers. I’m always cautious getting to know other performers, due to not-so-great experiences along the way, but getting to know the Budabis has been quite a different situation. Nick came to visit with me a few times during the event and showed me the five-ball juggling pass he’s been working on. If you juggle, you already know how difficult a five ball pass is. If you don’t, let’s just say it’s akin to knitting a sweater from angora that’s still attached to the rabbit while riding a bicycle uphill.
I’m not kidding.
While the fair was small, the patrons were generous and the organizers were pleased with what I brought. I’m looking forward to next year. We had dinner with Mr. Bayly both nights and found wonderful good food in town, even if there were no cocktails to be had. Vonore is that way.
We are showered, tired and feeling very fulfilled. It’s time to sleep for a very long time.
