Springfield, OH - George Rogers Clark Park
Today I sew. There are items that need attention and repair and they have leapt to the top of my list today.
It is Education Day here at the Fair. Children from all around the region’s elementary and secondary schools will be bussed in to experience a slice of 18th Century life. They have no idea how lucky they are to have this kind opportunity. I would have had a much more vested interest in history had I had the chance to interact with it at the level these kids are going to be immersed into this morning. They won’t appreciate it until they’re grown, though. I can count things similar in nature in my own childhood that I now recall fondly which at the time were boring intrusions on my playtime.
Alex is moving the pitch down to the theater at Cheapside. I’ll remain up here today, repairing and preparing things for the next two days of shows for the general public, a much more challenging day for everyone. I also have it in mind to go down to the field and search for things I need, like a new glass bucket and something to give weight to the new fire pot I fund yesterday at one of the antique shops in rural Indiana.
Also on the list is ice, beer for a few folks we hope to have as guests this evening, and some business on the computer and a fax machine I’ll locate somewhere in town.
The weather is gorgeous. It was a chilly last night and there’s a snap in the air that heralds the approach of autumn, my favorite time of year. I can hardly wait.
